Ilkley Tennis Club:

A Premier Multi-Sports Community

Ilkley Tennis Club is a friendly club, run by its members for its members. With a long history stretching back to 1880, the Club enjoys a fantastic position next to the River Wharfe with panoramic views across Ilkley’s famous moor. Over the years the Club has grown into a dynamic multi-sports community and is now widely recognised for its high level facilities. Alongside our traditional rackets offering of Tennis, Squash, Racketball and Padel, the Club is also recognised as the premier fitness facility in our area.

Ilkley Tennis Club is managed by a full time General Manager who is supported by a fantastic team of dedicated staff and coaches. The team are always on hand to provide you with the best experience throughout your member journey with us.

Chris joined the team in 2022 and brings a wealth of hospitality, venue and events knowledge to the team. Chris managed his own businesses for close to ten years before joining ILTSC. As a huge fan of racket sports Chris fell in love with the club when his business worked at the trophy from 2015. Joining the team assisting on the growth and future of the club is something he is truly passionate about.

Nicola was a Club member before joining the team. She is responsible for the memberships and management of the duty managers. As a tennis player, she played in the ladies rota, match-plays and Wharfedale teams and captained the Bradford Parks U15’s and Wharfedale A teams. She works to implement steps to ensure a fabulous member experience at our amazing club.

Having been a tennis member for over 20years, Zoe has always been familiar with the club and has represented the Ladies 1st team as well as playing for Yorkshire between the ages of 10 and 18. Previously a Personal Trainer in the club’s gym, Zoe changed roles to take on the sales and marketing position in October 2022. She has now completed a Digital Marketing course and works closely with the team to help the club continue to grow.

Gavin was appointed as Head of Rackets and Development at the start of 2024. Gavin brings a wealth of experience from a career in the tennis industry, having previously for the Lawn Tennis Association in roles including Tennis Development Manager for Yorkshire and Regional Tennis Participation Manager in the North Regional Team. Within these roles, Gavin has supported the vision for ILTSC, with a particular focus on the Ilkley Trophy event, the ILTSC outreach programme, funding applications and facility development.

Marcus was appointed as Fitness Manager in December 2013 after a period as Senior Fitness Instructor and Maternity Cover Manager. Marcus is a Level four qualified fitness professional with over twenty years in the fitness and leisure industry, with over fifteen years’ experience at management level at various clubs around Leeds. Marcus has strong expertise in coronary rehabilitation and is a muscular skeletal specialist having worked with some of the best in the field at Leeds General Infirmary.

Kyle was appointed Head of Tennis in September 2019 and prior to this was head of performance tennis for over 5 years at the club. Kyle grew up in Ilkley and was a member of the club in the early 90s. After his time at Ilkley as a junior Kyle tested his game against some of the best in the world on the professional circuit. He had a career high of 10 in GB and 810 on the ATP tour. Kyle now leads the coaching team at Ilkley and coaches players ranging from club improvers to national champions.

Will joined the team as an Assistant Groundsman in 2015 and then, after having a brief year away from the club, he came back as the Head Groundsman in Spring 2022.

Will has always watched or played sports from a young age, mainly rugby union where he played all of his career for Otley XV. He has a keen interest in what it takes to prepare and maintain sports turf, especially grass surfaces, in a range of sports. He is currently undertaking a number of courses to improve and develop his knowledge and qualifications in this area.

Will also maintains and improves the surrounding grounds here at ILTSC, whilst also looking after the indoor tennis and squash courts and the outdoor all-weather courts.

James has qualifications in construction and building having worked in the building industry for a number of years before he decided to expand his knowledge into Facilities Management. For the past 9 years he has specialised in the management of tennis facilities, in addition to his work as a swimming pool engineer.

James’ passions outside of work are caving, climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking.

He aspires to run and create a carbon neutral property which delivers the best customer experience and satisfaction.

Pete has now been working here for nearly two years on the grounds team after a career including a wide variety of roles; farming, tree surgery and a head butcher. It is safe to say he has found his favourite role down here at ILTSC, mainly of its stunning location, colleagues and members. Pete takes real pride in maintaining our outdoor and indoor facilities, from cutting brilliant stripes into our grass courts to cleaning the squash courts.

Align Yoga

A gentle way to reset your week- mobility and yin yoga combined to deeply enhance your practice. Stretching out deeper tissues using props and modifications with a soothing relaxation.

Bodypump™

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 540 calories**. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically-backed moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

Bodyattack ™

We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. A LES MILLS instructor will pump out energizing tunes and lead you through the workout – challenging your limits in a good way, burning up to 555 calories** and leaving you with a sense of achievement.

Body Burn

Burn up to 600 calories a session in this high octane fat attack class. Bodyfat comes off when you create a calorie deficit and this class is all about that! High impact and low impact options given to ensure everyone can have ago.

Boxercise

Life gets pretty stressful sometimes and there’s no better way to get rid of stress than beat the heck out of some pads! Boxercise is a fantastic all over body workout but on top of all the physical benefits you find a sense of confidence that may not have had before.

Hybrid Fit

A unique training experience suitable for all levels. Designed to target every aspect of your fitness with workouts built around the training modalities of speed, agility, stamina and power. If you’re looking to get fitter and have fun at the same time, this is the class for you.

LBT

Legs, Bums and Tums. A classic making a resurgence due to the fact it nails all the areas people care about. If you’re after a class that targets any of life’s important parts this is the one for you! suitable for all levels of fitness.

LIFT

LIFT is the perfect class for anyone wanting to focus on weight training, building muscle and perfecting form. Our gym instructors will guide you through specific exercises on a personal level- with only 8 people per class.

Metafit™

Body weight training. TONE muscle, BOOST metabolism and ultimately, BURN FAT with Metafit. Our 30 minute workout will set your metabolism on fire and seriously change your body shape.

Move freely  

Improves muscle tone and flexibility, using weights bands and body weight exercises. Fantastic class for the older adult and those returning to fitness. it is truly a class everyone can benefit from.

OneBody Strength

Your one stop, low impact class to a stronger, firmer body. Cherry picking the best of different training methods from the world of Pilates and incorporating weights, swiss balls, gliders to challenge your muscles. Think small movements, high repetition to develop local muscular endurance.

Peak Posture

Pilates based exercise class focusing on correct postural alignment and combating large amounts of time chained to the office desk. You work at a desk 8 hours a day, drive home, sit at the dinner table, sit on the sofa and wonder why everything hurts when you try exercise? You need this class.

Pilates 

A mat-based fitness-Pilates class emphasizing precise movements to activate, isolate and stabilize core muscles while improving posture, flexibility, balance and strength.

Pilates Foundations

Pilates foundations will allow you to build your knowledge and develop your skills in basic Pilates, no matter the level. A great place to start when it comes to beginning your Pilates journey.

PIYO

PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility benefits of yoga. It’s a true fat-burning, low-impact program that’ll get you incredibly defined. no equipment needed and lots of fun.

Power Up

Power Up focuses on toning and sculpting your body using a combination of bodyweight exercises and light weights. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to enhance muscle definition.

Pulse Pilates

Pulse Pilates is a fast, fun filled Pilates class, designed to get your pulse racing and into your fat burning mode. Plenty of classic Pilates moves you know and love, with lots of pulsing to intensify your workout.

Purestretch

Purestretch stretching classes are designed to move and stretch the entire body whilst giving the core a really good workout. Classes are stimulating, light hearted and choreographed in such a way that all levels of fitness can attend and enjoy.

Spin

A highly motivating cardiovascular and strength workout done on a stationary bike. Time to get a serious sweat on!

Spin Express

A 30min spin session with a shorter warm up and a shorter cooldown to get straight into the action! Think roadrunner on steroids

Total Tone 

20 minutes HIIT, 20 minutes strength, 20 minutes core. A total body workout class designed to cover all elements of fitness to provide great muscle tone and endurance.

Velocity

Small group training held in the fitness annex. The small group is led by one of our personal trainers through a series of exercises with aim of burning some series calories in 30mins. It will be using every tool at our disposal in the gym; Trx, slam balls, assault bikes, kettlebells to mention but a few. Due to the size of the group you will receive more tuition on correct form and hopefully have some fun at the same time!

Yoga

Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. Its foundations are set deeply in ancient yogic tradition; Dru works on the Body, mind and spirit – improving strength and flexibility.

Hatha Yoga

A Yoga class described as ‘Hatha’ will typically involve a set of physical postures (yoga poses) and breathing techniques. These are practiced more slowly and with more static holds than a Vinyasa flow or Ashtanga class.

Relax and Restore Yoga:

Friday evening chill out session with meditation and relaxation techniques to fully unwind from your week. Bring a blanket and allow yourself to breathe and mind to settle into deep rest.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga that is practiced linking conscious breath with fluid movement. A number of yoga poses are linked together in a sequence which flows together a little bit like dance. The breath is controlled and directs the timing and co-ordination of the movement in flow.
